“A woman of exceptional ability” Lord Sugar
In the former part of 2011, I applied to be a candidate on the UK’s leading business programme ‘The Apprentice’. 75,000 people applied, and I was both apprehensive & beyond grateful to be given a place.
It was an incredible experience, one which earned its place in my book of ‘the most challenging things I’ve ever done in life’. Being someone who never remains complacent, I jumped straight in and put myself forward as Project Manager in week 1 securing the first win of the series. From making phone apps to dog food to making money out of rubbish, I strived to earn my place as Lord Sugar’s business partner.
In week 10, as Project Manager, I was up against the 2 people who ended up being the winner and runner-up and was fired shy of 2 weeks to the final, with Lord Sugar’s last words being “with regret” and “a woman of exceptional ability”.
When you are fortunate enough to have an experience as unique as ‘The Apprentice’, it truly provides you with lessons for life- lessons about improving yourself, what it feels like to push yourself to your ultimate boundaries and just how much you can achieve in one day! I have very much enjoyed the Q&A and public speaking I’ve been doing sharing my experiences and lessons to take away.
As the first ever candidate to be a Social Entrepreneur, I am now back to running my Social Enterprise InspirEngage International and very much look forward to lending our services to very exciting projects ahead!
